John Olerud provided much of the offense. He smacked a three-run homer (his 1st of the season) in the 3rd inning, banged out a single in the 5th inning and hit a one-base hit in the 7th inning. Tampico had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Derek Lowe(5-4) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Armando Benitez was credited with his 14th save. Jerome Williams(2-9) was the loser. He allowed 5 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.
